To begin with, let's discuss what Commercial Driver's License (CDL) training entails and what a typical day looks like in our four to five week program. The CDL training can be completed over four to five weeks, with 10 hours of training each week. During this period, you will be engaged in the following activities on a daily basis:
In our one-week course, the classroom component occupies 25% of the program and focuses on instructing you on the regulations and guidelines of truck driving. This classroom instruction will equip you with the knowledge and skills necessary to excel in the written portion of the Class A CDL exam.
Experience behind the wheel is what separates a good driver from an unprepared one. Your training behind the wheel will include practice driving on our course as well as local roads, streets, and highways. Interstate routes will be included to prepare you for the exam, and you'll get many hours of observation experience to perfect your driving technique.
This is a critical and often failed part of the road test. Memorize and practice the entire inspection process until it's second nature.
On test day, you will be taken to the local DMV testing site to apply all your training and take your drive test. On most occasions, you will test in the truck you received your training in, and your instructor will attend with you for support and coaching
